CROSSVEGAS!

I can only imagine this was a drunk-fest of epic proportions, first big cross race of the year in VEGAS...during Interbike! I know we all wished we could be there to see Jeremy Powers walk away on his Rapha powered Focus to a 20 second victory, with his only real competition coming from ex-teammate Tim Johnson but here are some pictures to give you an idea. Its good to see big boy cx racing in the US, usually this is the biggest race of the year however the Elite Worlds will be held in Louisville this year and its going to be ridiculous DON'T MISS IT! 

Worlds Time Trial

Big shout out to American Evelyn Stevens who took silver in the women's tt losing to surprise surprise ZE German Judith Arndt. Stevens crossed the line with the best time and had to wait it out only to be bested by the soon to be retired 4 time champ Arndt. Look for Evelyn to take this title next year as well dominate the woman's road race on Saturday and women's race scene in general. USA USA!

 Tony Martin successfully defended his time trial world championship yesterday, nipping young American Taylor Phinney by 5 seconds (damn!). Martin looked to be running out of gas near the end but managed to hold on, we'll see if he has what it takes to fend off the Americans in the coming years. Tejay Van Garderen solidified the USA's tt strength with a 4th place. Borat's cousin (Vasil Kiryienka) came in 3rd and Alberto Contador proved he's nothing without his carne coming 3 minutes back in 9th. 

Fastest Mile

Here's a video of another LNS friend Alex Gil crushing the Fastest Mile held this past weekend at the Brian Piccolo Velodrome with a time of 1:57 taking 1st place overall. Yeeaa do the math, no wonder they call him the man child. Keep an eye out for Gil at Collegiate Track Nationals in Frisco,TX September 20-22nd.

World Championships 2012

Because we here at LNS are all for friendly(or hostile)wagers, it's time to run down the contenders for the 2012 World Championships in Limburg a punchy fast course that will suit guys who can climb as well as sprint. PLACE YOUR BETS!!!!!

The earing is obviously the source of all his power, PhilGil is the favorite in Europe's version of Vegas which is basically the whole continent. He's on top of the board at 3/1 for obvious reasons would you bet against him?

The Slovakian super man who burst on to the scene this year at the TDF is getting his well earned respect sitting at 7/2, and I for one would not be surprised to see the Saganator wheelie across the line. 

 Because no European betting line is complete without a Spanish under achiever we'll throw Valverde in here at 8/1. Some other riders of note include Tasmanian Matt Goss 11/1, Eddy "Boss" Boasson Hagen sleeping at 12/ 1 and Oscar Freire at 16/1. However coming into form at just the right time as champs always do, at 14/1 don't be shocked if Tommeke Boonen has a "HOLLLDDMAAADICKK" moment and throws those colored bars on his back. Have your bets in by Sept 23rd ladies, and stay tuned for watch party info.
